Creative Director
Johnny Whitman’s design philosophy lives in the push and pull—where clean lines meet loud ideas, and where high-brow meets low-fi. His approach blends the rigor of early modernist design with the brash, saturated energy of mid-century American pop culture, where Bauhaus ideals collided with brand mascots and Swiss grids made their way onto roadside billboards. Music is a constant undercurrent, shaping the way he builds narratives, selects palettes, and defines rhythm in design. His past projects lean into the unexpected—convincing Firestone to commission a semi-hollow body electric guitar, crafting a Tennessee land trust’s identity around the glow of a lightning bug, or channeling the raw, bootleg aesthetic of '70s rock tees into official merch for Taylor Swift’s Red tour. As his work became increasingly digital, woodworking became an antidote—an exercise in patience, permanence, and the kind of decision-making that doesn’t come with an undo button.
